3. Trees

Now we’ll make some trees for this scene.
First create a new group/layer then make a selection for the tree’s trunk like so:

Draw a dark brown gradient inside of the selection. The colors I used for my gradient were #512f1f and #30170c.

I also added a low opacity shape in the bottom right of the trunk to add a little detail.

Now add in the top part of the tree. First make a very crooked selection like mine:

then draw a green gradient inside of the selection, the colors I used were #a3c109 and #4b6b06.

I then applied Filter > Noise > Add Noise with an amount of about 1.5 and I also applied this Inner Glow.

Lastly for the tree, we need to add some snow to it.
First create a new layer. Now with a smallish solid brush add in some squiggly lines on the corners.

For the snow layers I applied the following layer styles:
Inner Shadow
Outer Glow

Now add in a few more smaller pieces of snow in the middle area of the tree, you can apply the same layer styles.

Lastly you can duplicate the tree layers, merge them together then resize it to a bit of a smaller state.
