Now we’ll add in some buttons. Start by finding then getting out the Rounded Rectangle Tool, use these or similar settings:

Create a new layer then make a rounded rectangle/button inside of your navigation bar, you can use any color.

Now you need to apply the following layer styles to your button layer:

  1. Inner Shadow
  2. Outer Glow
  3. Inner Glow
  4. Bevel and Emboss
  5. Gradient Overlay
  6. Pattern Overlay

Wow, that was a lot of layer styles! You should now have a button looking like this:

To finish the button off you need to add text to it. Using the text tool write out your text “HOME,” in the font Impact, size 24pt, #ffffff.

Now you’ll want to add an Outer Glow to make the text stand out from the button background.

Lastly, duplicate the button and text layer, move over to the right and repeat, then change the text layers to something different. Remember, this is a Photoshop tutorial, not a website-making tutorial. If you want to use this header for your website for example, you will either need to learn about slicing or get someone to code it for you.
